How Does Brake Controller Install in 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 4-Way
Question:
I have a 08 Dodge Ram 1500 that has a 4 wire flat connector. My trailer has a 7 blade RV connector. I’m looking to get a brake controller which looks to plug into the blue connector that has a trailer brake tag on it. The adapter I’m looking to get has a 4 flat that plugs into the one on the truck then it comes out with a 7 RV blade. Off the back of that it has 3 wires with butt connectors. One being trailer brakes.. my question is do I need that wire?? Or will the brake controller just work when i plug it in? The photo I included is the blue one the correct one? If not what’s the connector to the right of it? Please include links to the adapter I will need and a brake controller! Thanks!!!

To install a brake controller in your 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 that has a factory 4-way requires a brake controller like our best selling P3 part # 90195, the install harness part # 3020-P, and a 7-way adapter part # 37185. The # 3020-P attaches to your vehicle to the port under the dash.
The brake (blue) wire does not run all the way back to the 4-pole at the rear; it stops at the connector that is located under the driver's side wheel well. In order to finalize the installation you must splice into this wire with wire like the part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) and continue it back to the plug where you'll attach it to the blue wire of the # 37185.
