Can the Curt Converter # C56496 be Installed on a 2009 Ford Escape
Question:
Hello- Thanks for all the Qs youve answered here- very helpful. Towing w 09 Ford Escape Hybrid, no tow package, and wanting to build wiring harness myself. Trailer has 4-pin connector- 2 wires to each side for L and R turn signal, then running/brake lights. Can I use converter part #C56496 to build this harness? Thanks again

The Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter # C56496 that you referenced is a universal fit and can be used on just about any vehicle. If you check out the attached installation instructions you can see the different wiring configurations for when you are installing this on a vehicle.
Instead of trying to hardwire in a wiring harness to your 2009 Ford Escape I actually have an easier solution for you.
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector # 118551 from Tekonsha is a custom wiring option that has connectors to plug in behind the tail lights of your Escape. To complete the install you will just need to run the power wire up to your battery. This works just like the Curt option you mentioned but will be easier to install.
You can then use the Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat # 18144 and the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18140 for easy access to the 4-Way Flat connector without having to drill into your trailer hitch.
I have attachd some sample installation videos for you to check out as well.
