It sounds like you are needing to route the wires from the Hopkins Backup Sensor System # HM60100VA to the trunk of your 2001 Mercedes-Benz C300 in order to tap into the reverse light circuit.
There are a couple possible options for doing this. You might be able to access the trunk by simply routing the wire up and going through where the license plate lights are. If you cannot do this, you can also go down and have the wire go through the gap between the trunk lid and rear bumper. The weather stripping on the vehicle will protect the wire, as long as you avoid any latching mechanism.
