Is Trailer Hitch Secure to Underside of 2018 Jeep Cherokee?

In looking into the Curt hitch it appears a common complaint that there is little clearance between the muffler and hitch and they will bump on rough roads.

While it is accurate that there isn't much clearance between Curt hitch # C13172 and the muffler on a 2018 Jeep Cherokee, it is bolted onto the frame of the vehicle. It should be sturdy and not move to hit the muffler if torqued to the correct specs, which you can see in the linked directions. It is, of course, possible that extremely rough terrain could cause some vibration but if installed properly the hitch and muffler should peacefully coexist.
