Installing Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller in 2015 Ford F-150 with Integrated Brake Controller

Question:

I keep hearing about the necessity of a re-flash by ford if I install a Ford OEM braking module on my 2015 Ford F-150 with tow package. Will this be necessary with the Prodigy 2 unit? Thanks

When you have a factory integrated brake controller, you can add an aftermarket brake controller, but it does require removing the factory controller functions. For Ford vehicles, this does mean the TBC needs to be turned off by a local Ford dealer. I've attached an article to assist.

Upgrading to a Prodigy P2 # 90885 or P3 # 90195 will be a definite upgrade to your trailer braking from the factory integrated controller. You can install either of these with the custom harness # 22292. The harness will connect to factory wiring in your dash. To access this connector, first locate the instrument cluster finish panel in the center of you dash, near the driver's side. Carefully pry the panel out and undo the locking tabs to remove the panel. Plug the adaptor into the mating connector in the large gray housing behind the panel.
