Installation Kit and Mounting Bracket for P3 Brake Controller to Move Between Vehicles
Question:
I just purchase a Tekonsh P3 for my 2000 Ford F-150. I also have a 2008 Jeep Grand cherokee, 5.7 V-8 with the factory trailer tow package 7 pin conector I would like to be able to use the P3 in both vehicles. Can I purchase a installation kit or wiring harness so I can use this controller in my Jeep also? move the controller from one vehicle to the other one and just plug it in Thank you

On the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee, there is no brake controller wiring harness that plugs into a port or plug on the vehicle. But, you can use Pigtail Wiring Harness, # 7894. The blue wire on this harness will connect to a wire located behind the driver side kick plate. It will be a light blue or light green wire.
For the remaining connections, the white wire will connect to the negative battery terminal, the black wire will connect to the positive batter terminal via a 20- or 30-amp circuit breaker (see brake controller instructions for which size to use), and the red wire will connect to the brake switch located above the brake pedal. You will need to use a circuit tester, like # PTW2993, to find the wire that carries a signal ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed. You can use installation kit # 5506.
For a mounting bracket, use # TK5906. With everything installed you will be able to move the brake controller between the 2 vehicles.
