Recommended Trailer Coupler Lock for a 2-5/16

Question:

Being that the frame work of this lock is made of Alum a thief could easily cut thru the bar holes or cut off below the bar holes. I would be more comfortable is the whole unit was SS and not part Alum. Im looking for a very good hitch lock for when I go dry camping in the western states where I know my camper wont be stolen. Hitch size 2 5/16

I want to start off by saying that any trailer lock that you purchase will never be able to fully secure your trailer from a thief. If they are determined enough to bring equipment with them to remove a lock then given enough time they will be able to remove a lock. This will be the case no matter what you what you are looking to put a lock on.

With that being said, the Blaylock EZ Lock Trailer Coupler Lock # BLTL-33 that you referenced is a great lock that has received many great reviews from our customers. The aluminum is aircraft-grade so it is strong and will resist wear and corrosion which is the upside to aluminum. You will just need to use the Master Lock Stainless Steel Padlock # ML40D to secure it.

Aside from that your best bet is to make your trailer look daunting for someone to tackle. For that I recommend choosing a lock like the Master Lock Trailer Coupler Lock # ML389DAT as they really stand out so that a would-be thief cannot help but notice they will need to put a bit of effort into taking your trailer.

The only completely stainless steel options that we have to offer as just latch locks. Although these are great ways to deter theft, they are not nearly as intimidating as either of the options that I previously recommended.

You could also add a wheel lock like part # WI491 to add some more security to your trailer and hopefully intimidate someone even more.

I have attached a link to our selection of stainless steel latch locks as well as some review videos on the other locks for you to check out.
