Compatibility of 30 Foot 5th Wheel Trailer with Gooseneck Hitch on 7 Foot Flat Bed
Question:
I have a 30foot fifth wheel travel trailer. With a Gooseneck adapter, will a have sufficient clearance between trailer and CAB if I purchase a truck with a 7foot flatbed?

You will need to measure from the 5th wheel kingpin to the closest point of possible impact on your trailer. Then you will need to measure from the gooseneck hitch on the truck to the possible points of impact to see if you will have enough clearance.
One way to mitigate contact with this type of application is to use an offset adapter. I recommend the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset - 12" to 16" Tall # CAB-C5GX1216 which will not only give you a cushioned ride, but will also give you a 7-1/2 inch offset.
A non-cushioned option is the Ranch Hitch Universal 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter w/8" Offset for Short-Bed Trucks # AM3139. With this adapter you will also need the Slide Hammer for Ranch Hitch 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Coupler Adapter # AM3103.
Depending on your trailer's pin box, there may be a Goose Box available like the Reese Goose Box 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Air Ride Coupler Adapter - Lippert 1716 - 16,000 lbs # RP94716-61301 which will give you the best connection and ride when using a 5th wheel trailer with a gooseneck hitch.
