Installing Tow Ready Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Connector on 2001 Jeep Cherokee
Question:
My recent purchase of a 7-way trailer plug, for installation on a 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ, includes plugging the blue wire into an existing factory installed blue wire. Where can I find this factory installed blue wire in the rear of my vehicle as the 7-way plug did not come with any instructions? Thanks

It sounds like you are referring to the Tow Ready Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole Vehicle End Trailer Connector # 30717. In order to make this a fully functional 7-Way that will be able to activate a trailer's brakes, the blue wire from the adapter will need to be run to and connected to the blue wire on your trailer brake controller.
The black wire will connect to the vehicle battery via a 40 amp circuit breaker like # PK54540, the white is for ground, and the yellow wire is the optional auxiliary function that can also be connected to the reverse lights, if needed. The 4-Way on the adapter will just plug right into the existing 4-Way on your Jeep Cherokee.
You will need additional wire like # 10-2-1, which is sold by the foot, for making all the necessary connections from the adapter.
