Recommended Weight Distribution System for Trailer with 600 Pound Tongue Weight
Question:
Hello, After Days and Days hours and hours of research and reviews I have finally decided on the equalizer 90-00-0600 as my WDH. Heres my equipment 2006 Tacoma Quad Cab with tow package 650 lbs TW 6500 lbs trailer max. My Trailer Coachmen Freedom Express 192rbs loaded TW 580lbs per Sherline tongue weight scale. Trailer axels 3920 per cat scale combined 4500lbs. Trailer max gross weight 5900 LBS. I may add more fresh water or food but dont plan on pulling over 5000lbs. Have Ride Rite air bags they handle the weight but the ride sucks. With the fresh water tank full 30 to 36 gals tongue weight went up to 680 lbs so i will only carry around five gal for emergence bathroom use since this tank is in front of trailer axels so this should keep me under 650TW limit and the WDH will help distribute that also. Think thats about it would appreciate your feed back and suggestions. Thanks.

The Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37060ET that you referenced is a truly excellent system that features a tongue weight range of 200 to 600 pounds. If you stay under the 600 pound tongue weight capacity, this system will be perfect for your Tacoma and Coachmen trailer.
With that being said, if you think there is a possibility that you will exceed the 600 pound limit, which it seems might be the case, I recommend going with a slightly higher-rated setup. The issue with having an under-rated weight distribution system is that it will essentially be like not having one at all. You would not receive any of the benefits that a properly rated system can provide if you were to exceed the Equal-i-zer's 600 pound tongue weight capacity.
Also keep in mind that any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your Tacoma will also factor into your towing setup's total tongue weight.
If you think you will be going over 600 pounds, I recommend looking at the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution System # FA94-00-0800. This is another excellent system that will evenly distribute weight over the axles of your Tacoma and trailer, creating a level ride while also working to reduce sway. It features a tongue weight capacity of 400 to 800 pounds, which more comfortably matches your setup.
You will just need to add a compatible hitch ball like the 2 inch # A-90 or the 2-5/16 inch # 63840.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system that you can also check out.
