Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring to Tow a Trailer with a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Cab and Chassis
Question:
Im looking for a hitch for a 98 dodge ram 2500 that is a factory cab and chassis model with a flatbed on it. Also what wiring harness will be needed to provide wiring for a trailer?

One of the more popular trailer hitches for your 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 Cab and Chassis is the Curt Class V Receiver Hitch # C15300. This will fit all models unless you have a rollpan bumper.
If your Ram didn't come with the factory trailer connector then you I recommend installing the Tekonsha T-One # 118329 for a 4-Way connector that provides the standard trailer lighting signals.
If you are needing a fully functioning 7-Way (typically used for trailers with brakes) then you will also need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. You may also need to use the Wiring Kit # 5506 to complete the installation.
This will allow you to use a brake controller, like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, so that you can activate the brakes on your trailer.
I have attached a video of these parts being installed on a 1999 Dodge Ram Pickup for you to reference for the installation.
