Bike Carrier Options for 2012 Mazda 5

Question:

I have a 2012 Mazda 5 and wondering if you have a bike rack that would fit 4 bikes. All the ones I saw for the model are 2-3 bikes

We do offer trunk-mount bike racks for your 2012 Mazda 5 but you are correct that these are limited to a 3-bike capacity. This is true for all trunk racks; none are offered in a 4-bike capacity as this would be too heavy for a vehicle trunk.

We do offer a light duty Class I hitch for your car but you can carry only 2 bikes on a Class I hitch rack. So, in order to transport 4 bikes on this vehicle you will need a combination of trunk or hitch rack along with a roof-mount bike carrier. No one bike rack product can handle 4 bikes on your particular vehicle.

The hitch I suggest is Draw-Tite # 24874; it is the lowest-cost option. In this hitch you can then use a Class I-rated 2-bike carrier such as # S64650 or one of the others shown on the linked page. Then for the other two bikes you could install a roof rack and place the two lightest/smallest bikes up there.

Roof racks for your car are shown on the linked page. Just click on your roof type to see roof rack systems that fit your car.

Please feel free to tell me about your bikes and budget and I will be glad to help you find your best
solution.
