Thule Rooftop Cargo Box Fits for 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback

Hello, I am trying to determine how large of a Thule Force cargo box will fit on a 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback. Have you installed the Force XXL and XL on this car before?

I confirmed with Thule that on your 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback you can use their extra-large rooftop cargo boxes. Confirmed fits for your car include the 22-cubic-foot Motion XT, part # TH629907. A review video is linked to show the Motion XT.
This cargo box will fit on all shapes of roof rack crossbars - round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars - so long as they are within the maximum compatible size of 3-1/2-inches wide x 1-11/16-inches tall.
In terms of hatch clearance at the rear of the box I can give you the measurement that will tell you if the open hatch will clear the box's rear edge. Measure from the center of your front crossbar back to the seam where the roof and hatch meet. If you measure at least 59-inches then both boxes will clear the opened hatch.
Both boxes weigh about the same, approximately 55-lbs, so as you are loading up your cargo items keep in mind that this box weight also counts against the car's roof weight capacity. As an example, if the car's roof were to be rated for 125-lbs, then after you accounted for the box weight of 55-lbs you would have a remaining weight capacity of 70-lbs for your actual cargo items.
I often suggest a handy and inexpensive accessory for people using rooftop cargo carriers, the Telesteps Folding Step # TE97FR. This folding aluminum step comes fully assembled, weighs just a bit over a pound but gives you almost a foot of extra reach when loading and unloading your rooftop cargo. I own one of these and I find it handy around the house as well as with rooftop cargo needs.
