Recommended Weight Distribution System for V-Nose Cargo Trailer
Question:
I have a 24ft cargo trailer with a v in the front causing a small tongue. I tried an equalizer weight distribution hitch, but the installer said there was not enough room on the tongue to use that system. My concern with this Reese system is my trailer has a skirt that hangs lower that the tongue 3-4 inches will this system interfere with that? From center of coupler to front of trailer is 28.

The Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control # RP66560 referenced in your question requires that the sway control brackets be positioned 27 to 32 inches back from the center of the coupler. This is actually the same as the requirement for the Equal-i-zer Systems like the equally rated # EQ37120ET. If your V-nose trailer did not have the necessary frame space to install the Equal-i-zer system, then the Reese Steadi-Flex System that you mentioned might not be the best option.
For your V-Nose trailer, I instead recommend looking at a chain-hanger system like the Reese Straight-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66084 along with the Chain Hangers # RP58305. These chain hangers will provide attachment points for the spring bars on the side of the trailer tongue, helping to eliminate clearance issues caused by V-Nose trailers.
This weight distribution system will do a great job of evenly distributing weight over the axles of your tow vehicle and trailer along with reducing sway. It has a tongue weight capacity range of 600 to 1,200 pounds. You will just want to make sure the total tongue weight of your setup, which includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle, falls comfortably within this range.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this system along with the written installation instructions that you can also take a look at.
