Correct Vertical Placement of Reese Friction Sway Control Kit on Tall Trailer Frame
Question:
Im installing a sway control on a large enclosed trailer with a tall frame. Should the sway control attachment plate be toward the top of the frame, toward the bottom, or centered on the frame? Or should I make it as level as possible with the hitch attachment instead?

When installing the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660 referenced in your question, you will measure and mark a point on the trailer tongue 24 inches from the center of the hitch ball. With your tow vehicle and trailer connected and parked on level ground, you will just want to make sure the plate is positioned on the frame so that the bar remains level when hooked up to the ball on your ball mount. The most important point of reference then when determining the correct vertical placement will be the ball assembly that you installed on the ball mount of your tow vehicle. The plate does not need to be centered on the trailer frame, as long as it is level when attached to the ball.
I have attached the complete installation instructions for this product along with a helpful video that you can also use for reference.
