Tekonsha Brake Controller # 90885-3015P Recommendation for a 2003 GMC Yukon XL
Question:
2003 GMC Yukon XL with towing package-When I apply the brakes should the blue wire on the vehicle plug indicate the same as the stop/turn wire? I have a recently purchased trailer that supposedly has working brakes, but do not appear to be working. I am only getting a signal on 2 ports- Right and Left lights on the vehicle when applying the brakes.-Thanks in advance

It sounds like you are in need of a brake controller. You would not want full 12 volts getting applied to your trailer brakes at the exact moment you apply your Yukon brakes otherwise your trailer brakes would lock up every time you touched the brakes.
The tow package that came with your 2003 GMC Yukon XL gives you most of the wiring for towing a trailer but will not give you everything you would need to appropriately apply the brakes that are on your trailer. For that you will need a brake controller.
I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885 and wiring harness # 3015-P. This controller is out best selling controller because of how easy it is to set up and how well it works. I attached an installation video that shows this product being installed on a similar vehicle as yours and instructions for this product. Since you have a tow package you will basically only need to use the wiring adapter to go from the brake controller to the brake controller port that is under your dash near the brake pedal and you will be good to go.
