Is Rear Bumper Trimming Required to Install Curt Trailer Hitch # C13067 on a 2008 Lincoln MKX
Question:
When installing this hitch on the above mentioned car...does a portion in the rear bumper need to be cut out? I intend on using the class III so I can use a Stow-away cargo carrier which support up to 200 with the class III and only 125 w/ a class II. I thought the extra weight capacity might be handy for family trips. Thanks for your time.

When installing Curt Trailer Hitch, # C13067, on your 2008 Lincoln MKX, the rear bumper/fascia does not have to be trimmed but there is a heat shield underneath the vehicle that will need to be trimmed. According to the installation instructions, which I have linked for you, there is only a small tab on each heat shield (2 total) that need to be trimmed.
You are correct about having a class III hitch. The extra capacity will be handy and you will have more options in terms of accessories. With the Curt Hitch, in order to be in compliance with their warranty requirements, they require the use of a stabilization strap, # 18050, for all non trailer loads.
