Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for a 2015 Ford Edge SEL
Question:
I have a 2015 Edge SEL and you have 2 hitches that fit . They are 75234 and 75214 . Load is about 500 lbs difference . On the 75234 you cannot replace a part which may be a safety item while 75214 hangs down below the vehicle bumper and does not have as nice an appearance . Is it safe to leave the part off the car ? Which hitch do you sell the most of ? which one do you recommend and why ? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The hitch receiver tube you are referring to on the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75234 is welded to the hitch and not removable. This feature is designed to accommodate the sport models of the 2015 Ford Edge. The sport models have an enlarged rear bumper that requires the drop tube in order to clear the fascia. Since you have an SEL, I recommending the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75214.
The Draw-Tite Hitch (Part # 75214) is a Class III trailer hitch with a 2" receiver tube opening. It is rated at 4,000 lbs of gross towing weight (GTW) and 600 lbs of tongue weight (TW). You will want to check with your vehicle's owner's manual to see if the vehicle is also capable of these rating as you will need to abide by the lower of the two figures.
I have also included installation videos of both trailer hitch receivers on a similar 2015 Ford Edge for you as well.
