I reached out to my contact at Dexter and based on your serial number, they can't really narrow it down. It is an older axle that was produced in a plant that has since been closed. All they can tell me is that it is between 2K and 8K capacity because it came from that plant. Do you have a GVWR sticker on your trailer? Does it have brakes if so are they 10 inch or 12? We can get really close with this info if not confirm load rating.
Another way to narrow it down is with spindle measurements. If you can get the bearing numbers out of one of the hubs that will give us the measurements. The bearing numbers are printed on the face of the bearings. If you can't get the numbers then use a digital caliper like # PTW80157 to measure the spindle according to the attached photo. This will help us get the hub assemblies to narrow down or confirm load capacity.
In addition to the bearing sets and brake drum diameter, the diameter of the axle beam can sometimes provide a clue:
1,000-lb - 2,000-lb Axles: 1-1/2" - 1-3/4" diameter
3,500-lb Axles: 2-3/8" diameter (they can have a 3-1/2" diameter, but rarely)
6,000-lb - 7,200-lb Axles: 3" diameter
8,000-lb Axles: 3-1/2" diameter
9,000-lb Axles: 4" diameter
10,000-lb Or more axles: 5" diameter
