Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2012 VW SportWagon TDI
Question:
I noticed during the vehicle search you don’t show the Jetta TDI Sport Wagon. Is there a difference in the hitch or installation?

There is a difference that is noted in our fit guide between the Jetta SportWagen and the Jetta Sedan. It is listed as a different fit option completely.
For your TDI SportWagen, I recommend the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2"
Item # 306-X7284. This particular hitch will fit all of the SportWagen models, TDI or not.
If you will be towing with this hitch, you will need wiring and a ball mount. For your trailer wiring, I recommend the 4 Pole Harness and Hardwire Kit # C59496 which will let you make your connections with quick spice connectors. It also will draw power directly from your battery to prevent overload on your factory wiring.
For a ball mount, I recommend etrailer 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop Ball Mount Kit - 7,500 lbs # EBMK4.
