Recommendation For A Hitch For A 1996 Toyota Tacoma
Question:
What is a good Class III hitch for my 1996 Toyota Tacoma?

Expert Reply:
A Class III hitch that is a confirmed fit for your 1996 Toyota Tacoma is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, Item # 13013. This 2 inch hitch is a bolt-on installation with a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000-lbs and a maximum tongue weight capacity of 500-lbs. However, your total towing capacity is limited to lowest maximum capacity of any of the pieces of your towing setup including your vehicle.
You may made need additional parts for your project like trailer wiring and a ball mount.
For trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Wiring Harness With 4-Pole Connector, Item # C55379. For a ball mount, I recommend Ball Mount Kit, Item # 989900, that comes with 2 ball mounts, hitch pin and clip, and storage bag.
All these items together will give you a complete towing set-up. I have attached additional information and videos for you to check out.
