There are a few different reason why you would be getting blowouts; 1) tires are not inflated to the correct psi, 2) trailer is loaded for weight that is higher than the weight capacity of the tires, 3) tire sidewalls are damaged due to hitting curbs, 4) the max speed rating of the tires has been exceeded. The most common combination leading to blowouts is reasons number 1 and 4; improper inflation and exceeding the speed rating. Both will cause the tire to overheat and ultimately blow.

The correct psi rating for the tire is stamped on the sidewall of the tire which makes it convenient for when you are filling up the tires. If you have too much or too little air in the tires when they are cold they will not perform as the manufacturer says because they tested the tires at that specific psi.

When you purchase your tires you will also want to be sure to check the speed rating. If the speed rating is unknown then it is best to assume that the max speed rating is 65 mph.

All of our 5.30-12 size tires are Bias which will work well, but if you are going to be traveling on the highway then Radial is the better way to go as they keep cooler at highway speeds. A similar tire size to your 5.30-12 tires is the size 145/80-12. This tire actually has about half an inch less diameter but is just about half an inch wider than your current tires. I recommend making sure that you have proper clearance before making the switch.

I recommend going with the Kenda Karrier S-Trail # AM10140 which is a Radial tire that has a load range of E (1,520 lbs at 80 psi) and a max speed rating of 65 mph. It is compatible with 12" x 4" wheels and comes with a 2-year limited warranty.

I have attached a review video for this tire as well as a link to our selection of 145/80-12 size tires.
