Parts Needed to Add Brakes to Discovery Trailer with Dexter 3,500 lb Axles

Well it turns out there is a flange for brakes to mount. I also found out that it is a 3500# axle by Dexter too

First thing to check is to see if you there is a square mounting flange behind the spindle on the axle for a brake assembly to bolt to. If so, then it would be very easy to install the brakes.

Let me know what you find. Also I attached a link to a page that will walk you through adding brakes to a trailer axle as well.

The etrailer.com Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K for E-Z Lube Axles would be the correct hub for your axle, and then for brake assemblies # AKEBRK-35-SA covers both the left and right side. This would easily install on your trailer and be all that you need aside from 10 gauge wire like part # 10-1-1 which is sold by the foot.
