Recommended Lights for 28 Foot Gooseneck Horse Trailer

Question:

My main goal is to gain backup lights on my 28’ gooseneck horse trailer. It already has surface mount oval optronics led tail lights. Would this light put out a good amount of backup light if I replaced the tail lights with these? Or would I just be better off leaving the tail lights I already have and add something like the optronics BUL78CB? I’m looking for a few lights to mount on the outside of a horse trailer for loading/unloading and saddling/unsaddling. Are the ILL70CBAWN the best combination of light output, flood coverage and also being low profile?

The LED Trailer Tail Light - Stop, Tail, Turn, Backup - Submersible - 14 Diodes - Oval - Pigtail # STL68RB will help give you backup lights, with 4 bright white LED's. Since you stated that your main goal is to gain backup lights, the Sealed 6-1/2" Oval LED Trailer Utility Light, Flange Mount, 10 Super Diode - Clear # BUL78CB has 10 bright LED lights that will give you a much better light for backing up, so I recommend leaving your current lights and adding these brighter lights. They have a raw lumen output of 700 lumens and an effective output of 490 lumens. To give you an idea of what that means, 600 lumens is equivalent to a 40 watt incandescent light bulb.

For your loading/unloading and saddling/unsaddling, the Opti-Brite LED Interior Strip Light w/ Awning - Sealed - 11-5/16" L x 1-5/8" W - White # ILL70CBAWN are not your best option with only 171 lumens. For that application, I recommend the The Optronics LED Rectangular Interior and Exterior Light # ILL22CB. This light measures approximately 4.5 inches x 2.75 inches x 1 inch with an effective output of 810 lumens.
