Installation of Circuit Breakers When Installing Brake Controller
Question:
I have done the installation. The unit has power and recognizes when I have the trailer plugged in. I havent added the 40 amp fuse. Do i need to if I have power? 2009 gmc 1500

If you have installed the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195, I definitely recommend installing the 40 amp circuit breaker when using the # ETBC7 or the # 5506. The 40 amp circuit breaker will protect your system from overload and will automatically recycle when the source of over-current is removed. The 40 Amp breaker is for the 12V function to your 7-way and the 20 or 30 amp circuit breaker is for the power run to your brake controller. I've attached an article to assist.
