Is Spare Tire Repositioning Necessary on 1992 Ford F-250 With Curt Hitch C15300?
Question:
I am trying to determine if I will need an after market wheel positioner for a 1992 F250 XLT 4x2 5.8L if it matters using the LT215/80R16 wheels including spare. Im sure the hitch will fit but there is a note that it may require an aftermarket repositioner and was wondering if it was needed in this situation? If it is what is the recommended solution?

I spoke with a representative of Curt, who told me that Curt hitch # C15300 may require the repositioning of the spare tire on your 1992 Ford F-250, depending on the width of your spare tire and if you have a short bed or long bed. With a short bed, then you will have to reposition or remove the tire, but with a long bed there is a chance you may not have to if the tire is small enough.
As for a solution, you could remove the spare tire altogether, or use the suggested aftermarket repositioner. This will allow you to adjust the location of the spare tire enough to keep in underneath your F-250 but not interfere with the hitch.
