Recommended Trailer Wiring for 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 to Combine Turn/Brake Signals for Trailer 7-Way

Question:

I have an 05 ram 1500. The trailer wiring harness was trash when I got the truck. I put a new 7 pole plug in the bumper and on the trailer the brake lights and turn signals are on the same circuit. How do I connect the brake lights and turn signals together on the 7 pole connector on the truck without then interfering with eacother?

For your 2005 Dodge Ram 1500, I recommend the Upgraded Circuit Protected Tail Light Converter Hardwire Kit with 4-Pole Connector (Includes Tester) # 119178KIT to connect to your 7-way trailer connection. This harness with modulate will give you the proper combined functions to make sure they don't interfere and yet are on the same wire like standard trailer wiring.

Your other option to do this is to use the Roadmaster Brite-Lite Wiring Converter # RM-732 to combine your 3 wire system to a 2 wire system. I recommend the circuit protected converter that will protect your system from overload by drawing power from the battery.
