For your 1993 Ford Ranger XLT, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13138. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit your truck and will fit along with the full size spare tire under the vehicle. The hitch has a towing weight capacity of 4,000 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 400 pounds. Just note that some drilling will be required during installation.
I have attached the written installation instructions and a video on the 1999 Ford Ranger that you can use for reference.
If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118325 to add a 4-Way connector at the rear of your Ford Ranger. This custom-fit harness will install by connecting directly to the built-in ports located under the vehicle on the driver's side.
You will also need a ball mount to tow a trailer. I have attached an article that explains how to choose the best one for towing your trailer level, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
