Solution for Curt Weight Distribution Chain Hangers that Have Interference Above Trailer Frame
Question:
I recently purchased a 15K Curt WDH C17501 from eTrailer. I set it up this weekend according to the manual short pin and saddles at highest position. Although the front of the truck doesnt sit as high, its still not back to stock height. Also, there is a metal tray between the tough rails that is keeping me from positioning the saddles far enough back. I didnt measure, but I think Im closer to 9-10 inches from the end of the spring bars instead of 4-6 inches. I think I need to change out the spacer to the longer pin to tilt the hitch back more and move the saddles farther from the ball. Do you agree? Is there anything else that Im missing? 2009 F-150, 4.6V8, Max Tow Package. 2008 Keystone Cougar 29FKS, Dry weight 6,100, TW 935. Thanks in advance for your help.

You really have to have the spring bar hangers at the correct location otherwise the system isn't going to work to it's potential. The solution for trailers like yours that have interference above the frame of the trailer is to use hangers that bolt to the side of the frame. For that you'd want the part # C17005 which will allow you to move the hangers where they're needed.
