How to Upgrade Equal-I-Zer Weight Distribution System to 1,400 lb Spring Bars
Question:
I have a equalizer 1000# hitch now. I am upgrading my rv trailer. New trailer has unloaded tongue weight of 1055#. I am wondering if I should go to the 1200# unit or go with the 1400# as long as I am upgrading. Also, will I be able to use the same settings as the old hitch?

The head and the spring bars of the Equal-I-zer systems have to be replaced if you go to a higher rated tongue weight. If you are unloaded at 1,055 lbs you'd want to go with the 1,400 lb bars part # EQ90-01-1499 then for the correct rated head you'd need the part # EQ90-02-1400 and you'd be set. You would still be able to use your old shank and bar hangers from your old system.
You'd have to use new settings too since the system and trailer are totally different and because your trailer height may be different as well.
