EcoHitch Confirmed to Fit a 2017 Subaru Forester
Question:
I am considering the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch Item# 306-X7216 for my 2017 Subaru Forester Touring Trim. Your Tech Tip states Hitch will only fit models with center knock-out panel in the lower rear fascia. I do not see one on my Forester. Secondly, do I need a stabilizing strap for my Thule low-mount two-bicycle hitch rack?

Helpful Expert Reply:
I spoke to my contact at EcoHitch about the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 306-X7216 for your 2017 Subaru Forester and they informed me that the hitch will work with models that do not have the center knockout panel. Therefore, yes this hitch will work well for you.
You will not be required to use a support strap for the EcoHitch or your Thule bike rack but one like the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap part # 18050 can be used if additional support is needed. Basically, the support strap will minimize the amount of movement your bike rack has while driving.
I have attached an installation video on both the hitch and support strap for you.
