How Low does the Curt Hitch C13065 Hang on the 2011 Grand Cherokee

Question:

I noticed Jeeps stock hitch is a higher profile design that requires cutting an opening in the rear bumber shroud. Obviously, there is a benefit to this design, as it looks as if it sits below the shroud ie, no shroud modification. Can anyone tell me what the hitch hight from the ground will be. I am concerned whether it will be a problem bottoming out off road or if a trailer tongue will ride pointing down too much.

I spoke with my contact at Curt Mfg. and was informed that there are definitely no clearance issues related with the hitch and that the hitch, once installed will sit just under the rear fascia on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They did not have the height measurement for the hitch but provided the following information.

The receiver will be positioned level at the back of the vehicle and will not point down at all. If your trailer tongue is higher than the hitch when the trailer frame is level, you would need to use a drawbar with a rise to accommodate the height difference. We have an article detailing how to measure to select the correct ball mount for you to review, see link.

I have attached a picture that Curt Mfg was kind enough to send, showing the hitch installed on a 2011 Grand Cherokee for your reference.
