Full Size Spare Tire Clearance for the 2008 to 2011 Toyota Highlander Hitch # 13534
Question:
Looking at the finished installation pictures that you someone has shown of the Curt hitch # 13534 it looks like the full size spare tire is blocked from being removed once the hitch is installed. Can the full size spare tire be removed once the hitch is installed?

Expert Reply:
The Curt Class III Trailer Hitch # 13534 does not block the removal of the full size spare tire when installed on the 2008 to 2011 Toyota Highlander. You will definitely be able to access the spare with the hitch installed. I have provided a link to the installation instructions for you to review and a video that shows the hitch being installed on a 2011 model with full size spare tire. The camera angle in the video may make it look like the spare is behind the hitch but in reality there is plenty of clearance for installation and removal.
Some items you may need with the Class III hitch are listed below.
Wiring # 118449
Drawbar # D-4
Hitch Ball # 19260 or # 19247
Hitch Lock # e98880
