Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2017 Ford Focus Hatchback SE
Question:
I have a Class C motor home Thor Quantum LF31 and would like to flat tow the Focus. I am planning to have an RV mechanic install the tow equipment. The following is what I am considering: Roadmaster 524443-5 EZ5 Base Plate Kit 2017 FORD FOCUS Roadmaster Sterling All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - Motorhome Mount - 2inch Hitch - 8K Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System 8700 What other item do I need to purchase for the installation wiring, safety chains, support accessories, etc? Thanks for you assistance,

You have the basics covered really well so far. The Roadmaster base plate kit part # RM-524443-5 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Ford Focus Hatchback SE so it would be a great option. I attached an install video for you to check out for this as well.
This would work well with the Sterling tow bar part # RM-576 which comes with safety cables.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
For braking I would recommend the DUO part # SM99251 though as it is our installers favorite. It installs the easiest and works the best as well.
Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.
