To use the Curt 17 x 46 carrier, part # C18145, you'll need a few things to get started.
First, you'll need to pick a Class III hitch. Without getting into too much detail, the hitch class determines the available capacity of the hitch. This is always limited by the weakest part of the system, so you'll want to verify your 2017 Honda CR-V's tongue weight and trailer weight limits with your owner's manual. I've included a link to a short article that shows the type of things that are generally towed or carried with each hitch class so you can get an idea of how these matter.
For a hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III, part # 76128. This provides ample weight and the correct receiver to use the Maxx Tow. Installation for both the AWD and FWD models is extremely similar. I've included a video of this process on a 2017 Honda CR-V and an article about installation tips so you can become familiar with the process.
After the hitch is installed, you install the cargo carrier by inserting the shank of the Curt Carrier into your trailer hitch receiver, and then insert the hitch pin to secure it to the vehicle.
