For a brake controller I highly recommend going with a Tekonsha brand. We have found that these are the most reliable brake controllers out there and all of them have received numerous feedback from our customers that is positive.

The Prodigy P3 # 90195 is definitely the best option to go with as it has been created with an easy-to-read LCD screen that displays a lot of information for you.

For a more economical option I recommend going with the Primus IQ # TK90160 which is a proportional brake controller just like the Prodigy P3 so it will activate your trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you are pressing the brake pedal in your 2007 Dodge Ram 1500. The main difference between this controller and the Prodigy P3 is that this has a smaller screen that uses codes to give you information.

If your Ram has the factory 7-Way then you will simply need to use the Adapter # 3020-P for installation.

If your Ram does not have a fully functioning 7-Way then you will need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 which has all of the equipment needed for a fully functional 7-Way connector. The # ETBC7 is meant to install on a Truck that already has a 4-Way connector like the Tekonsha # 119178KIT.

I have attached a video of the # ETBC7 being installed on a 2001 Dodge Ram that you can use as a reference if need be.

The Prodigy P2 # 90885 is the older brother of the P3 # 90195 and is another great option to use with the Adapter # 3020-P. The big differences between the P2 and the P3 is that the P3 has an LCD screen that can make it a little easier to use while the P2 uses codes, and the P3 has the ability to save different settings for towing while the P2 cannot. Other than that they are both easy to use proportional brake controllers that have boost settings for different size towing loads. They are both very popular and have received excellent review ratings from our customers.
