Do I Need To Use Curt Stabilizing Strap # 18050 To Carry Saris Hitch Bike Rack On Curt Hitch # 11829

Do I need to buy other straps or just the hitch itself? The listing talks about other straps I need. But Im getting a very high quality bike rack from Saris, do I still need the other straps mentioned? Thanks.

Yes, Curt requires using a stabilizing strap like the Curt Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle, part # 18050, with any hitch mounted bike rack and or hitch accessories. You will need to purchase part # 18050 separately from the Curt Hitch # 11829. It is required by Curt as a precaution to reduce the jarring and torque applied to the hitch from the weight of the bike rack and bicycles.

The Curt Bike Rack Strap will attach to your Saris bike rack. Since the Curt Trailer Hitch, part # 11829, is a Class I hitch, you will need to make sure your bike rack is compatible with Class I trailer hitches. Also, you will be limited to carrying 2 bikes with a Class I hitch, as there would be too much torque for a Class I hitch to carry 3 bikes,

We do have other hitches available that will fit your Volvo C30 that do not require use of a stabilizing strap. I would recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 24811, which is also a Class I 1-1/4 inch hitch.
