Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12100 that you referenced weighs about 30 lbs and has a Max Tongue Weight (TW) capacity of 350 lbs and a Max Gross Towing Weight (GTW) capacity of 3,500 lbs.
The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75876 that you referenced weighs in at 2 lbs more (about 32 lbs) and has a Max TW of 525 lbs and a Max GTW of 3,500 lbs (GTW is increased to 4,000 lbs when using a Weight Distribution System).
Both are confirmed to fit your 2017 Subaru Forester, however, I recommend going with the Draw-Tite option for a few different reasons.
1) It has a 2 inch hitch receiver as opposed to the Curt 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver. The 2 inch receiver will allow you to carry a wider variety of accessories and can be used for many different applications.
2) the Draw-Tite does not require the use of a Support Strap # 18050 like the warranty on the Curt option does.
I have attached installation videos for each of these hitch receivers on similar 2017 Foresters for you to reference.
If you let me know what you will be using the hitch receiver for I can make some other recommendations for you as well.
