The items that you need in order to install a trailer brake controller on your 2012 Ford E350 will depend on what the vehicle is already equipped with.

If the van has a factory 7-Way at the rear of the vehicle, then all the necessary wiring is already ran and there will be a port located behind the vehicle's dash. To install a brake controller like the excellent Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885, you will just need the Plug-In Adapter # 3034-P. One end of the adapter will connect to the brake controller itself and the other end will plug into the mentioned port in your E350.

If your Ford E350 instead has a factory 4-Way connector, you will just need item # 37185 to complete the wiring. The brake (blue) wire will need to be manually run from the brake controller back to the plug at the rear of the vehicle. You can still use the Plug-In Adapter mentioned above to install the brake controller unit.

If your 2012 Ford E350 Van did not come with a factory connector at the rear of the vehicle, you will just need to add a couple parts to install a trailer brake controller.

You will first need to install a 4-Way connector. For this, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118551. This is custom-fit for your vehicle and will install by connecting directly existing ports located behind the driver and passenger side tail lights. I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.

Once the 4-Way is installed, you will need to use the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 to install a fully functional 7-Way from the existing 4-Way connector. This kit will include everything needed to install this and the brake controller. I have attached an article that details the installation steps that you might find helpful. I have also attached a complete installation video of the Prodigy P2 # 90885 on your vehicle that you can check out.
