Recommended Sway Control For 2000 Camplite Camper with Minimal Space on Trailer Tongue
Question:
I have a 2000 camplite camper with tip outs on the front it has the bars holding it up. Where the holes are for the pole is where my sway bar hook up is suppose to be. Is there anything I can do or buy so it will work right?

If you are having sway issues with your 2000 Camplite Camper, I recommend looking into a complete weight distribution system with sway control. This will do a better job at reducing and preventing sway than a single friction sway bar, and will also allow for greater versatility when it comes to avoiding the holes on your trailer tongue.
The primary component to consider when choosing a weight distribution system is the total tongue weight of your setup. This will include both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer, along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle. Ideally, this number will fall somewhere around the middle of the operating range for the system you choose. Using a scale like the etrailer # e99044 is a great way to verify the loaded tongue weight of your camper.
If your total tongue weight ends up falling between 200 and 600 pounds, I recommend looking at the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System # RP66558. This system will do a great job of evenly distributing weight and reducing sway that is caused by winds, curving roads and sudden maneuvers. The brackets on this system can be mounted 25 to 32 inches back along the trailer frame from the center of the coupler bar cavity. This will give you some room to work with on your trailer tongue, depending on where exactly the holes you mentioned are located.
If your tongue weight is a bit higher, between 500 and 1,000 pounds, I recommend the Reese # RP66559. The brackets on this system can be mounted 27 to 32 inches back.
For either system, you will just need to add a compatible hitch ball like the 2 inch # 63845 or the 2-5/16 inch # 63847.
For the heavier # RP66559 system use the 2 inch # A-90 or the 2-5/16 inch # 19286. I have attached video demonstrations on both of these systems along with an article on weight distribution systems that you might find helpful.
