Is Drilling Required for Trailer Hitch Installation on a 2003 Ford Ranger and Hitch # 13138
Question:
Will the installation of this hitch require drilling? Will I be able to carry and use my full size spare without using tools to deploy the tire? Why is the installation difficulty rating for this hitch 6 and most of the others are 3?

On some models, there may be drilling involved. If you take a look at step 3 in the instructions I have linked for you, it explains that you may need to use the hitch as a template to drill some holes, but, on some vehicles, those holes may already be there.
If you plan on doing some towing, the recommended ball mount is # AMSC2 and you can use pin and clip # PC3. For a ball you can use any of the following, depending on the coupler size:
# 19260 (1-7/8 inch diameter)
# 19247 (2 inch diameter)
# 63847 (2-5/16 inch diameter)
For trailer wiring use T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118344. I have included a link to the installation details for this wiring harness for you to view.
