Recommended Trailer Hitch for 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon that Will Allow Bike Carrier to Fold Up
Question:
Need a class III hitch to accomodate our 1upusa bike rack. Most hitches weve seen have the receiver tube so far inboard of the outer edge of the rear face of the bumper that the bike rack cannot fold up to vertical. How far back from the face of the bumper will the receiver tube be using your EcoHitch part # 306-X7162 on a 2014 Subaru Outback?

For your 2014 Subaru Outback Wagon, I actually recommend looking at the Curt Class III Round Tube Receiver Hitch # C13206. Between the three Class III options confirmed to fit your vehicle, the Curt model provides the shortest distance from the hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper. When we had a chance to install this trailer hitch on your 2014 Outback Wagon, there was a measurement of just 2-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper.
I recommend taking a quick measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole on your bike rack, to the closet part of the rack when it is folded. As long as this measurement is more than 2-1/2 inches, there will be no interference issues between the rack and rear bumper on your Subaru.
I have attached the installation video on your vehicle that you can use for reference.
The Draw-Tite model has a distance of 4-1/2 inches and the Eco Hitch # 306-X7162 that you referenced in your question will have a similar measurement.
