Clearance of Bumper With Curt Cargo Carrier on 2016 Lexus RX 350
Question:
I have a 2016 Lexus RX 350 and would like verification that the Curt aluminum cargo carrier will in fact fold up without hitting the rear bumper surface. i can attach the D210 Curt Universal Ball Mount but would like to avoid that added cost.

The Curt Aluminum Cargo Carrier # C18100 will fold up without hitting the bumper of your 2016 Lexus RX 350; you will have 1/2" of clearance space when using the Curt # C13272 trailer hitch.
It may still be worth it to use the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers # D210 if you plan on towing or for simple peace of mind.
Another option would be Curt Cargo Carrier # C18151, which is not only a bit larger, but offers 4-1/2 more inches of clearance when folded up. The ball mount comes with a pin and clip, but without it you'd need # PC3. If you needed a bag to store your gear in while hauling it in your carrier I recommend checking out the etrailer Cargo Bag # e98990, which is water resistant and comes with six straps to attach to your carrier.
