If you look at page 5-51 in your owner's manual for your 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 you will find the maximum trailer weight listings for all of the models that do not have a diesel or two-mode hybrid engine.
If you have the 2WD 5.3 L V8 with a Crew Cab and a Short Box then your maximum trailer weight is either 6,800 lbs (LMG K5L HD Cooling Pkg), 7,000 lbs (K5L HD Cooling Pkg XFE), or 9,000 lbs (K5L HD Cooling Pkg).
If you have the 4WD version then your maximum trailer weight is either 6,000 lbs, 6,700 lbs (K5L HD Cooling Pkg), or 9,500 lbs (K5L HD Cooling Pkg).
Since the only thing separating the last two 4WD versions is the axle ratio it is best to contact your local dealership with your VIN so that they can tell you exactly what you have. This is also helpful if you are unsure of what cooling package you have. Your local dealership should also be able to confirm your maximum trailer weight if you provide them with a VIN.
If you are needing to get equipment to bumper pull a trailer then I recommend going with the Curt Class V Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15323, the Reese Trailer Connector # 74682, and an Adjustable Ball Mount # FA42-00-2600.
I have attached some videos and helpful articles to assist you as well.
