Solution for Clearing Spare Tire on Jeep Wrangler for Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier
Question:
I purchased a Viking Solutions Tilt-N-Go Carrier. I own a Jeep Wrangler, with the spare wheel mounted on the back door. Do you have some type of receiver extender that will allow me to mount this carrier, without removing my spare? Thanks.

We do have a large selection of hitch extenders that are designed for exactly the situation you described in your question. The particular extender you choose will depend on how much distance you are needing in order to clear the spare tire on your Jeep Wrangler. I recommend taking a quick measurement from the center of the hitch pin hole on your hitch receiver, to the outermost edge of the spare tire. You will just need to make sure you pick an extender that will reach at least this distance.
I recommend looking at the Curt Hitch Extender # C45795. This is designed for 2-inch hitch receivers and will provide an extension of 14 inches. We do have longer extensions too, such as the Curt # C45796 that is 18 inches long. I have included a link that will take you to our available selection of hitch extenders that you can look through.
A very important note to keep in mind is that when using these or any similar hitch adapters, the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch will be reduced by 50%. For example, if the trailer hitch on your Jeep has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds, it will be reduced to 175 pounds when using the adapter. You will need to make sure that the combined weight of the carrier and contents do not exceed the reduced capacity.
