2-Inch Class III Hitch for 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 T
Question:
Im looking at the Curt class II trailer hitches for my 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0 T. The primary use will be with a 2 bike hitch mounted carrier which supports the bike tires versus hanging from the upper frame tube. In the description for the Curt it states that a nylon strap needs be used for non-trailer loads. The Curt has a 350# hitch weight capability. Will this work? Does anything else offer larger diameter tubing or thinker wall thickness?

The two 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch from Curt that you referenced, part # C12113, along with the 2-inch Class III hitches available are all shown on the linked page.
You are correct that despite having a high tongue weight rating of 350-lbs for the Curt # C12113 it also does include the warranty requirement of using a support strap # 18050 for any non-trailer load like a bike rack or cargo carrier. Even some of Curt's 2-inch hitches have this requirement. It is just an extra safety measure that Curt has decided is important enough to require.
Curt elects to be more conservative in their capacity ratings and includes the support strap requirement to take away some of the stress from the motion of the installed accessory. This applies to some Curt hitches but not all.
The # C12113 would be fine, but, I suggest you forget the lighter-duty 1-1/4-inch Class II hitch altogether and use a 2-inch Class III. This will cost only a little bit more and it will give you MUCH higher capacity. Curt 2-inch hitch # C13152 has a beefy 900-lb tongue weight rating and this specific hitch DOES NOT require the strap to maintain your hitch warranty. For a platform-style bike rack that typically weighs a good bit more than a hanging-style rack this is an especially good move.
You can still use your 1-1/4-inch hitch-mount accessories simply by installing a reducer sleeve # HT02. this slides into the 2-inch receiver and both reduces its size to 1-1/4-inches AND provides a useful reinforcement of the receiver tube.
In terms of long-term utility and safety this is absolutely the way to go. If you ever buy 2-inch accessories (to utilize more of the hitch's 900-lb capacity) all you need to do is remove the sleeve.
