Weight Distribution Recommendation for a 3500 lb. Boat Trailer and 2015 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Does Curt MV Weight Distribution System C17050 Work Over a Range of Trailer Tongue Weight? I have a 2015 Jeep Wrangler and want to pull a tandem axle boat trailer under 3500 lbs. with a combined tongue weight of approximately 275 lbs. to 325 lbs. When I hook up to it now my lights, at night, can spot squirrels in trees.

The Curt weight distribution system # C17050 is designed for a tongue weight range of 500 to 600 pounds. If your trailer's tongue weight maxes out at 325 this system is too heavy for the trailer but no worries because there are other options that will work great with your trailer.
First, you mentioned that the trailer is a boat trailer. If it has a straight pole tongue instead of an A-frame you will need to have a pole tongue adapter. If you want to use weight distribution only then I recommend # RP3280. If you want to use weight distribution and sway control use # RP58393. Each of these adapters will require a specific type of weight distribution system.
Adapter # RP3280 will only work with chain-hanging types of weight distribution systems. For your 275 to 325 pound tongue weight I recommend Reese Weight Distribution System w Shank - Trunnion Bar - 10,000 lbs GTW, 600 lbs TW Item # RP66540 which has a tongue weight capacity range for 200 to 600 pounds. for this system use ball # A-90 for a 2 inch ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball.
For adapter # RP58393 you can use a system with friction sway control. I recommend Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 4K GTW, 400 TW Item # 66557. It is rated for 250 to 400 pounds tongue weight. For this system use ball # 63845 if the trailer needs a 2 inch ball or # 63847 if the trailer needs a 2-5/16 inch ball.
