First, make sure your 2005 Lexus LX470 came equipped with a 7-Way trailer connector from the factory. If it did, the factory wiring harness for a brake controller will be there. The plug is located underneath the dashboard, to the left of the steering column taped to another wiring harness near the left side of the vehicle. It may also be more towards the center of the vehicle under the steering column.
You may have to dig around because the harness could be behind another bundle of wires, hidden, until it is pulled out.
If your LX470 did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector, the wiring harness will not be there. Instead, you will first need to install Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight Converter Hardwire Kit, # 119178KIT. Then, you would need to install 4 and 7 Way Installation Kit # ETBC7. This kit provides all of the wiring and parts needed to add a 7-Way to the vehicle and wire in a brake controller.
I have included installation details and a video link for installing an ETBC7 kit for you to view.
