Question:
i added the fifth wheel wiring harness to my 2017 ford f350 and it works great, except that the info system in the dash thinks the trailer is still plugged in and registers trailer miles and defaults to the towing screen every time i start the truck no matter what screen i had up when i shut the truck off with. hope you can help.

I reached out to my contact at Bargman and they have not heard of this issue with the harness # 50-97-410. Because your vehicle is registering the trailer connection, your vehicle is tracking it. There are a couple of things we can do to see why it is registering connection. Ford will register trailer connection not only through the brake controller output, but also through trailer lights, so if you are using a lighted trailer hitch receiver cover, that may be the issue.
It is possible that there is a short in the Bargman wiring harness, so I recommend disconnecting the harness at the bumper and connecting your factory 7-way directly. If the system is still tracking, then there is an issue farther "upstream" an not at the connection. If this solves the issue, it is either a connection issue with the Bargman harness or a short somewhere in the harness. I recommend using some dielectric grease # 11755 in the connection to give you a cleaner transfer.
Let me know if we need to continue troubleshooting.
