Recommended Replacement Landing Gear Set for a 2004 Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2004 cougar by keystone fifth wheel and my GVRW is at 10,300. My lead landing gear leg gears are bad and I just want a replacement leg. What is a good system for me to order for this replacement leg? Currently I have a venture mfg system.

When you are looking for replacement landing gear the 2 big things to take into consideration are the weight of your trailer and the weld stop locations on your current setup.
Since the GVWR of your 2004 Cougar is 10,300 lbs our Landing Gear Set w/ Handle # RVLG-8HDL that you referenced can handle the weight capacity of your RV. Keep in mind that some of the weight of your trailer is still supported by the axles and tires so a landing gear setup doesn't need to be rated for the total GVWR of a trailer.
Next you will want to look at the weld stop on your current setup. The weld stops on the # RVLG-8HDL measure 17-1/2 inches from the bottom of the bottom weld stop to the top of the top weld stop and 15-1/2 inches from the top of the bottom weld stop to the bottom of the top weld stop (see attached picture). This is the most common landing gear weld stop measurements so you should just be able to uninstall your current landing gear and install this set directly. You will want to take some measurements first though. If your weld stop location measurements are different please let me know and I can look at some other options for you as well.
This landing gear set comes with a manual hand crank but if you would rather have an electric set you can install a motor # LC142178 and a switch # LG-145236 as well.
